Description
This will be a two-day watercolor Batik workshop using simplified instructions created by Jan for artists to see the image develop through value changes while implementing the ancient technique of using wax as a resist (Batik) to further enhance movement and texture in the piece. Participants will work on a different image each day, finishing the workshop with two completed (or almost complete) works of batik art. Also, participants will learn how to mount their batik on watercolor paper ready for framing.
The workshop instructor, Jan, will provide most of the supplies including the images/patterns to create your Batik. By the end of the workshop participants should understand the technique well enough to create patterns using their own photo references. You can check out more of Jan’s batik work and her works in other mediums on her website at www.janwilken.com.
